Campaign Rewards & Discount Offers

Occasionally when setting up a campaign, you will have to choose from different Reward or Discount Offer types. What’s available to you may vary based on your package. Learn about each type by reading the sections below.

Reward Types

The Reward Types available to you may vary based on your package. These can be provided to your guests. Different reward types may be available for different campaigns. Learn about each reward type by reading the sections below.

Cash Back is a currency equivalent that represents a discount on an order when redeemed.

Guest receives a free item.

When issuing this reward type, you’ll need to:

  • Select which item the reward should apply to (most or least expensive) in the event a guest has more than one eligible item on their check.
  • Select which item(s) your guest will be rewarded with.
  • Decide if the reward should be redeemed automatically, or if the guest can decide to use their reward at a later date instead.

Guests earn additional points on their purchase.

Guests can earn extra points in addition to the standard points earned on their purchase.

Guests can earn punches faster when you provide a Punch Multiplier reward. Simply enter the multiple of punches. For example, entering “2” will reward double punches, and entering “3” will reward triple punches.

This will allow you to offer discounts to your guests. There are a variety of discount types: Order Discounts, Item Discounts, New Item Prices, Buy One Get Ones, Item Group Discounts, and New Price for Groups of Items (Combo Pricing). These can get tricky, which is why we talk about these more thoroughly in the section below!

Discount Offer Types

There are a variety of Discount Offer Types available for you to configure for your brand. These discount types have a variety of configurations. Each Discount Offer Type can provide different advantages. Read about them below to see which ones may work best for you.

Get 15% off your total purchase.

This Discount Type provides a percentage off of the total purchase

Example: A guest’s total purchase equates to $25. An Order Discount of 5% would change the total to $23.75.

Get $1 off a coffee. Or get 75% off a coffee.

This Discount Type provides either a dollar amount or percentage off of a single item

Example: The normal price of a coffee is $2, but you decide to run a campaign where if a guest purchases one coffee they can get a second coffee for 50% off. You decide that 2 coffees max can be discounted per purchase. If a guest purchases 6 coffees, the first 4 will trigger the deal (buy one, get one half off). The other two coffees will not be eligible. Therefore, the total cost of the coffees for that guest will be $10: 4 at normal price, 2 at 50% off.

Loyalty customers receive discounted dessert purchases this week.

An item is given a
new price for those who are eligible for this campaign. A limit to how many items are eligible for this discount can also be implemented.

Example: A cup of coffee normally costs a guest $2. However, you decide to run a campaign where all loyalty customers can buy coffee for $1.50 when using their loyalty number. You decide you want to apply this only once per purchase. If a guest with a loyalty card buys 2 coffees, they will therefore receive 1 for $1.50 and a second coffee for $2. Their total purchase would be $3.50.

Buy one pizza, get one 10% off. Or buy one drink, get one free.

This will provide a percentage amount off of an item when a guest purchases two of the same item

Example: If a guest buys two coffees, they receive the second coffee at a discount. If a discount of 5 is entered, the second item will be given a 5% discount. If 100 is entered, the second item will be free.

Buy a coffee and a donut, get a free scone. Or buy a salad and a drink, get 50% off a muffin.

This is a type of Buy One Get One deal, acting as “Buy Item X & Y, get a discount item Z”. A guest needs to buy two different items in order to receive a discount on the third one. The discount can be any percentage between 1%-100% (100% being a free item).

Simple Example: A guest purchases an appetizer and a drink. Because of that, the promotion entitles them to receive 50% off a dessert item. Your campaign set up may look like this:

  • Purchased Item #1: Appetizer
  • Quantity of Purchased Item #1 (Appetizer): 1
  • Purchased Item #2: Drink
  • Quantity of Purchased Item #2 (Drink): 1
  • Discounted Item: Dessert
  • Quantity of Discounted Items (Dessert): 1
  • Type of Discount: 50%
  • Maximum Redemptions per Purchase: n/a

At the end of the night, there are 10 appetizers,10 drinks, and 10 desserts on your guest’s tab.

All 10 desserts are 50% off.

Complex Example: You have a promotion where if a guest buys two appetizers and two drinks, and they receive 50% off a dessert. You decide that this deal only can apply three times per check. Your campaign set up may look like this:

  • Purchased Item #1: Appetizer
  • Quantity of Purchased Item #1 (Appetizer): 2
  • Purchased Item #2: Drink
  • Quantity of Purchased Item #2 (Drink): 2
  • Discounted Item: Dessert
  • Quantity of Discounted Items (Dessert): 1
  • Type of Discount: 50%
  • Maximum Redemptions per Purchase: 3

A sandwich, fries, and a drink cost $7.50 separately. Purchased as a combination, they only cost $5.

Also known as Combination Pricing, this promotion allows a guest to purchase a group of items for a new price. Note that while you need to select a minimum of two “group items”, you may add more.

Example: A guest purchases 6 fries, 5 sodas, and 4 sandwiches. A campaign is active that allows for combination pricing of 1 order of fries, 1 soda, and 1 sandwich to be $5. You have no limits on the Maximum Groups per Purchase. The check total with this campaign is then $20 + the individual cost of 2 fires and 1 soda.

Other Fields

When creating a discount offer for a discount or free product, you have the option to add a Discount Display Name. This field allows users to add their discount name for future campaign rules.

This name is used to describe the discount on the POS receipt. Because of this, be sure it makes sense to anyone viewing this externally. If this field is not used, the default value will be blank.
