Configuring a Shortened Link

Configuring a shortened link, or link shortening, refers to the practice of making long URLs shorter. Link shortening is used commonly for social media applications because it prevents URLs from taking too much space and looks more aesthetically pleasing. In the Clutch platform, you can shorten links for mobile messages through the Configure Shortened Link function.

Note that link shortening is required for link-level reporting.

To shorten a link when sending scheduled messages, follow the steps below:

Start Creating Your Mobile Message

Start creating the mobile message you wish to add a shortened link to. If you need help creating a mobile message, consult the article here to learn how to create a Scheduled Mobile Message.

Select Shorten Link

Find the Shorten Link button within the message creation tool and click it.

Enter Link Information

You’ll need to input the following information:

Link Name: Enter a unique name for your link that can be used for tracking purposes.

URL: Enter your Link URL.

Copy Shortened Link

Your Shortened URL Link will appear below the entered information.  Click the Copy Link button to copy the Link into your clipboard.

Note: Shortened Links are valid for 90 days, starting from when the message is sent.

Input Shortened Link into Mobile Message

Paste your link into the text field. The text field will show the extended link, however, the preview within the prototype phone will display the shortened link.
